At Mountain Meadows Cabins we're in the heart of Arizona's recreational high country. The Mogollon Rim is a paradise for hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders. Anglers will enjoy fishing any of seven area lakes as well as easy access to a variety of mountain streams including Haiglar Creek. If you enjoy hunting, we're smack dab in the middle of Hunt area #23. Horseback riding is only 10 minutes away and Cross country skiers will delight in our proximity to several National Forest trails.

Relax and enjoy the scenery! The 7,500 foot escarpment known as the Mogollon Rim is home to a variety of wildlife. You'll find Rocky Mountain elk, deer, black bear, mountain lion, bobcat, fox, javelina, wild turkey, raccoon, squirrel and coyotes. Over 239 species of birds, including eagles, hawks and ravens make our area their home. Wildflowers, magnificent Ponderosa pines and cool temperatures offer outdoor enthusiasts a tremendous opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors.

 
Mountain Meadows CabinsHistory buffs will delight in the rich history of our area. Local Attractions include: Zane Grey Museum, Tonto Natural Bridge State Park, Rim Country Museum, Tonto Fish Hatchery and Canyon Creek Fish Hatchery. Mountain Meadows Cabins offers it's own history as part of an original 108 acre homestead within the perimeter of the area where the Pleasant Valley War transpired.

Shop 'til you drop at many of the antique, collectible and craft dealers in nearby communities. Because of our beautiful environment, many western artists who work in sculpture, woodworking, jewelry and pottery have made our area their home. Picnickers, hikers, birdwatchers, flyfishermen, Off Road Vehicle enthusiasts, photographers - ANYONE - will enjoy the opportunities for rest, relaxation and fun! Tonto Natural Bridge State Park. Believed to be the largest natural travertine bridge in the world.

Zane Grey Museum of Payson. A fascinating museum chronicling America's most well-known and widely read Western author.

Rim Country Museum. Established thru the efforts of the Northern Gila County Historical Society, Inc., the museum's mission is to discover and preserve the natural and cultural history of the greater Payson area. You'll find several historical buildings and objects of local significance.
General Crook Trail & Mogollon Rim Overlook. Spectacular scenery and outstanding photo opportunities abound as you follow the General Crook Trail along the Mogollon Rim Road. In 1865, the U.S. Cavalry came to begin securing this territory known as Apacheria or "outbound". It was the exceptional military strategist, General Crook, who opened a relatively safe haven to the Westward movement. Chevron markings on trees designate the route followed by General Crook as he explored the Mogollon Rim.

Whispering Hope Ranch. Located adjacent to Mountain Meadows cabins is home for a diverse group of animals who have come from difficult circumstances. Facilities include a restored wheelchair accessible ranch house; a guest log cabin; three tipis (teepees); a log gazebo; and a riding arena with a wheelchair mounting ramp.

Payson Golf Course. 18-hole course with driving range, putting greens and club house. 27 miles from Mountain Meadows Cabins.

Overgaard Pine Meadows Country Club. 18-hole public course with putting greens, driving range and club house. 27 miles.
Annual Events
August Doin's The "Annual World's Oldest Continuous Rodeo" in the United States is a world famous event and has been held every August since 1884.

State Championship Old Time Fiddlers Contest. Held in the late summer at Rumsey Park in Payson. Contestants come from around the state to compete.
